This was my first time ever coming to rehab and I can honestly say that this is the best experience and journey I’ve had in finding my self and getting sober. The staff at Live Oak actually pay attention to you and show you that they are here for you and your journey is sobriety and they have all the tools to help you if you truly want the help. As I was one that truly wanted the help and I can say I couldn’t have chosen a better place to start my journey in sobriety.

Live Oak and the phenomenal staff made my at first- scary journey into recovery into a life-changing experience. I am from Minnesota and took a flight within 2 hours of calling and instantly felt safe when I arrived. I learned healthy tools for recovery and coping skills I never thought of and the staff (especially Amanda!!!) were genuine and kind to everyone. This will be the best decision of your life.

The staff is great there and makes sure you are well taken care of. Food is good and snacks are available all times of the day. The nurse and doctor made sure they gave me the correct medications to detox and afterwards.

My experience at Live Oak surpassed all of my expectations. The staff are caring and very knowledgeable. The classes provided me with a wealth of knowledge, that pertained to a wide range of substances and addictions. I left feeling confident and educated to maintain my sobriety. If anyone that is reading this needs help, give them a call NOW. You will not be disappointed. God bless you all.

Place saved my son’s life. Individualized care. He said everyone genuinely cared about him for the first time and he has unfortunately been to other treatment centers. He’s been sober 6 months now.

What is Depression?

In America, nearly one in ten men and women suffer from depression or a depressive disorder. Depression is a mental health disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, changes in appetite or sleep patterns, low energy levels, difficulty concentrating, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, and sometimes thoughts of self-harm or suicide. It is more than just feeling down or having a bad day; it is a prolonged and intense state of unhappiness that can significantly impact a person’s daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. It is important to seek professional help if you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms of depression.

For those with an addiction brought on by their depression, co-occurring disorder treatment can help before their symptoms lead to self-harm or suicide.

To get help with your depression or to help a friend with a depressive disorder, call (877) 716-4464 today and learn more about our program in Florida.

Understanding Depression

Understanding depression involves recognizing it as a complex mental health disorder that goes beyond simply feeling sad.

Here are a few key points to help understand depression:

=

Symptoms

Depression can manifest in various ways, including persistent feelings of sadness, loss of interest in activities, changes in appetite or sleep patterns, low energy levels, difficulty concentrating, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, and thoughts of self-harm or suicide.
=

Causes

Depression can be caused by a combination of factors, including genetic predisposition, imbalances in brain chemicals, environmental factors, life events, trauma, chronic stress, and certain medical conditions.
=

Impact

Depression can greatly impact an individual’s daily functioning, relationships, and overall quality of life. It may interfere with work or school performance, social interactions, and physical health.
=

Diagnosis

A proper diagnosis of depression is made by a qualified healthcare professional. They will evaluate symptoms, duration, and their impact on daily life. Self-diagnosis is not recommended, and seeking professional help is crucial in determining an accurate diagnosis.
=

Treatment

Depression is treatable, and various approaches can be effective in managing symptoms. These may include therapy such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), medication, lifestyle changes, support groups, and self-care practices.

Remember, each individual’s experience with depression is unique, and seeking professional help is essential for a proper understanding and management of this condition.

At Live Oak Detox, our team tailors a treatment plan to your mental health needs.

Substance Abuse is Connected to Depression

There is often a strong link between depression and substance use, as these two issues can often coexist and influence each other. Some individuals may turn to drugs or alcohol as a way to self-medicate or temporarily alleviate symptoms of depression. However, substance use can worsen depression over time, as it can disrupt brain chemistry and lead to negative consequences in various aspects of life.

Depression can increase the risk of substance abuse, and substance abuse can increase the risk of developing depression. It’s a complex and bidirectional relationship. It’s important to address both issues simultaneously to achieve long-term recovery and mental health.
